Stolen Nation Entertainment premiered the “first cut” of a documentary about Federal recognition at a private event near Washington, DC on July 16, 2011.

Participants in the documentary in attendance included Jana Mashonee – Lumbee/Tucarora singer/songwriter,  Kiros Auld – Pamunkey Indian Law, and Tim Evans –  Haliwa-Saponi Indian Law Attorney with Holland & Knight in Washington, DC.

Stolen Nation CEO Sandra Hope recognized key documentary participants as well as SNE Media Engineer Bobby Richardson. Jana Mashonee performed award winning songs accompanied by Native hoop dancer Lumhe “Micco” Sampson.

The presentation was an initial 35 minute edit of an in-progress feature film.  This version included speaker segments from Auld, Mashonee, Evans, and Lance Gumb (Shinnecock Nation) as well as cut-in humor shots of non-Natives who are unfamiliar with Native history.  The segment also included shots taken at ‘The Longest Walk 3’, the 2011 march from California to DC promoting diabetes education, which was founded and led by Dennis Banks.

SNE submitted the documentary to the 2011 American Indian Film Institute (AIFI) festival for November 2011.

American Indians are the only people– in the world who have to prove who they are.
